| | | Hello Maryland FBLA Members,
It is shocking to think that the school year is already half-way through. We hope that your chapters have had successful first semesters! Let's recap a few of the events that have occurred so far. In October, MDFBLA State officers met with Congressman Steny Hoyer in Washington D.C. The State Fall Conference in November was engaging, inspiring, and enjoyable for the members in attendance. After the conference, several State Officers assisted at the March of Dimes Signature Chef's Auction which raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the cause. The Regional Leadership Conferences are coming up over the next few weeks. Keep preparing for your competitive events and get ready to experience a great conference in your region. Also, don't forget to "like" us on Facebook (Maryland FBLA) and to "follow" us on Twitter (@MD_FBLA). We hope to see you all at the upcoming Regional Conferences and the State Conference in April. |

| | | Hello Members and Advisers of MDFBLA,
The State Officers have been hard at work since the end of the State Leadership Conference to make sure that the upcoming year will allow all members to enter the Gateway to Greatness!
The team has been working on the 2011-2012 Program of Work that outlines the goals of the organization for the upcoming year. You can check it out in the coming weeks in the Downloads section of the website.
We hope that you are having a wonderful summer and getting ready for the quickly approaching school year! |

| | | Greetings and Salutations!
I am proud to report that this year's State Fall Leadership Conference was a big success! With keynote speakers, such as Patty Hendrix, excellent accomodations, food, and several informative workshop presentations, the event went better than anyone could have hoped for.
The conference started out well at the opening ceremonies with speaker, Patty Hendrix, getting everyone pumped for the days ahead. Maryland FBLA President, Faith Katsman, and Board of Directors Chairman, David Jones, addressed the attending chapters during the ceremony with one message: Break Barriers!
Barriers were, in fact, broken when numbers peaked at over 250 members and advisors in attendance. But with the great local atmosphere of Ocean City, it wasn't surprising to hear that, for many members, the conference was a definite highlight of their FBLA careers.
The State Officer Team would like to thank every chapter that was in attendance, the workshop presenters, and especially the advisors, for taking time out to help make this one of the best conferences we've had yet. We look forward to seeing you all at the Regional Conferences, and the State Leadership Conference!

Your State Officer Team has been actively working to Break Barriers for the upcoming year. In addition to this year's Program of Work, the September Newsletter and most recent version of the state competitive events handbook have been posted, and are viewable in the 'Downloads' section.
Dates have been updated for the new year! These are accessible through the 'Conferences' tab. This year's calendar has also been updated with the tentative dates for the upcoming conferences and event information.
Additionally, a new promotional video will be available on the website within the upcoming week. The addition of this video will replace the former promotional video from the 2009-2010 year. To access the older video, as well as other related content, you can visit us on YouTube at www.youtube.com/user/mdfbla, or type in 'Maryland FBLA' in the search bar.
We are very enthusiastic about the Fall Leadership Conference, held in scenic Ocean City, and look forward to seeing everyone in attendance. If anyone has any questions concerning the website, future conferences, or FBLA in general, feel free to contact us using the link on the main page. |
